Technology is a large part of the Verona experience. In almost every class, students are exposed to a wide range of equipment and programs. Students who have a passion for technology will want to consider the computer science curriculum. Computer Science specializes in providing a program that challenges students to develop skills related to organization, problem solving and communication. In addition, students are prepared for basic technology literacy issues that they will encounter when they use computers after completing high school.
Computer Science Vision and Mission Statement
The mission of the Computer Studies department is to help students write good programs. Our mission is based on a statement from Donald Knuth – In the first place, it’s especially good to have a program that works correctly. Secondly it is often good to have a program that won’t be hard to change, when the time for adaptation arises. Both of these goals are achieved when the program is easily readable and understandable to a person who knows the appropriate language.
This process entails students solving problems, developing technical skills, and cooperating with others.
