In mid-February, Verona Area School District residents will be receiving a referendum fact sheet in the mail that shares details on the questions they will see on the April 4 election ballot. Click here to view it now!

The Verona Area School District has served generations of students since our first school was built in 1918. Since that time, our community has experienced significant growth and development, growing by over 600 students since our last school opened in 2006. As we prepare to educate a projected 1,600 additional students by 2030, the School Board is focused on a comprehensive K-12 facilities plan that:
•Manages current crowding and projected growth
•Provides safe, accessible and flexible educational space
•Addresses maintenance needs to keep buildings operating effectively
•Offers a long-term solution to students, staff and community
•Reflects the input and priorities of our community

For nearly a decade, the Board of Education has been evaluating district growth. Now, after two years of intensive study, planning and input from our community, the Board has authorized an April 2017 referendum that presents to voters a comprehensive K-12 facilities plan addressing the District’s current needs, projected growth and educational goals.

Residents will have the opportunity to vote on two related facilities questions and one operational question. Click here to see the fact sheet or visit here to see all you need to know about the referendum coming soon on the April 4 ballot.

Note: Superintendent Dean Gorrell is offering to make in-person presentations with a question/answer session regarding the referendum. If interested:

VAHS and EA Senior Students,
If you are interested in speaking at graduation, please complete the Application that is linked below. The rubric is also linked below.
We invite you to apply to be one of the three student speakers for this year's graduation ceremony. Sharing your message to the senior class and the guests of seniors can come in a variety of media. First, the President of Student Council will speak. The second speaker will be selected from senior students with a cumulative 4.0 at the end of their first semester senior year (summa cum laude). The third speaker will be chosen from any senior student wishing to apply (at-large).

Students wishing to be a speaker for the summa cum laude or "at large" position need to submit an application.  Summa cum laude students can choose if they want to be included in the summa cum laude pool of applicants or in the “at large” pool of applicants.
The selection process for the summa cum laude position to speak at graduation includes 3 steps:
1. Complete the application.
2. Selection committee reviews applications and determines which applicants will be invited to make a video.
3. After viewing the video submissions, the selection committee determines the speaker.
The application includes two short essay questions and is due on February 27, 2017 by 11:59 PM. Applications that are not submitted by the deadline will not be accepted. Essays have a word limit as noted in the application.
