School counselors at Verona Area High School support students in their academic, social-emotional, and postsecondary development. We help students navigate challenges, build skills, and plan for a successful future.

Our Work Includes:

• Guiding course selection

School social workers at Verona Area High School provide mental health support, crisis response, and family collaboration to help students stay engaged and successful in school. We believe students are most successful when they feel connected, understood, and supported both inside and outside of school.

We work directly with students and families who are experiencing stress, grief, family changes, peer conflict, or other challenges that may impact learning. We also support students and families navigating significant life changes in housing or experiences with homelessness, and help ensure they are aware of the resources they need as they seek stability.

Our Work Includes:

• Individual student support and short term counseling
• Crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning
• Collaboration with families and connection to community resources
• Work with the student services team to strengthen school-wide supports
• Support staff in growing their awareness of student needs and how to best response

VAHS school psychologists support learning, behavior, and mental health through comprehensive evaluations, data analysis, behavioral consultation, and intervention planning. They assist with special education processes and collaborate with staff, students, and families to improve academic and emotional outcomes for every student.

Our work includes:

• Comprehensive learning, cognitive, and behavioral evaluations.
• Special education evaluations, IEP support, and data analysis.
• Behavioral consultation, crisis intervention, and targeted mental health support

The school nurses at Verona Area High School support students’ health and well-being so they are able to safely participate in school and learning. Through collaboration with students, families, and staff, they help ensure students’ medical and health needs are addressed during the school day.

Our Work Includes:

• Providing care for student illnesses, injuries, and day-to-day health concerns

• Managing student medications and supporting health care plans for medical conditions

• Collaborating with families, health care providers, and school staff to support student health needs

• Monitoring and supporting students with chronic health conditions

• Promoting a safe and healthy school environment
